Armoury
Jonora's mishap with the "DISAPPEAR" rune displaced her to a ruined armoury.
Broken blades, cracked hammers, frost-rotted spears, and other ruined weapons are spread out across the floor, fallen from the empty iron weapon racks that line the walls.
Five of the blades immediately began to levitate, rotating to point themselves in her direction. Sensing that a new friend was in danger, and recalling the consequences of his past hesitations, Cairns Root charged at the door and kicked the rune - displacing himself to the armoury. Algernon 'Gerry' Dracovia and Nimphora Baliae Daphymira Stumbleduck followed shortly after.
The fight was long and hard, with the majority of the party coming close to death as they struggled to land blows on the swords. Someway through the fight Jonora heard groans and scratching coming from the single locked northern door.
As the combat with the swords came to a close, Cairns Root made the split-second decision to propel himself through the locked door with his rage. Three zombies stood behind it and were slammed into the wall of the long corridor. The party disposed of these zombies quickly and locked themselves in the armoury for a short rest.
The Experiment
A large red X is painted across the stone door before you. Violent banging and the sound of heavy objects being tossed around emanates from the chamber beyond.
The party made sure the door was locked and decided that this route was a very bad idea.
Wight
Six long stone tables are set with steel and glass laboratory equipment in this chamber, whose walls are lined with shelves holding all manner of strange knickknacks and tools. An armed humanoid with white skin and red eyes moves from table to table, adjusting bubbling mixtures and carefully adding reagents.
As the party debated how to approach this situation in the doorway, the Wight turned to face them. His expression turned from focus to frustration as he demanded to know what the party were doing in Salsvault. Algernon 'Gerry' Dracovia quite honestly told the individual that he was here seeking a cure for Frigid Woe after contracting it from a trapped chest. This seemed to win over the undead, after some strange questions, and the undead handed over a master key to all of Salsvault's chests and doors. He warned the party:
- To avoid the experiment behind the door marked with the red cross.
- To take only the amount of cure they needed for themselves and the innocents affected.
Jonora asked what the deal was with the room with flamethrowers. The undead informed her that the room was used for disease storage, and Jonora casually remarked that they had found vials outside of it. This sent the undead into a panic as he began marching towards the entrance of Salsvault to ensure no disease vials had been compromised.
This caused the undead to notice the corpses lining the hallway outside his workshop. Questioning the party, Algernon 'Gerry' Dracovia convinced him that they attacked first - technically the truth. As such, a formal apology was given to the party. The undead requested that the party help him feed the experiment in the meantime as a sort of cleanup attempt. They agreed.
Lining up behind the red-crossed door, Algernon 'Gerry' Dracovia held two corpses and Nimphora Baliae Daphymira Stumbleduck held one. The undead clicked the lock open, counted from three, and opened the door. The corpses were thrown with impressive strength and the door was slammed shut once again. The party heard crunching, squelching, and slurping from within.
The wight then insisted that Algernon 'Gerry' Dracovia finds himself a cure first before reconvening at the disease storage area. After all, his life was at risk.
The Cure
A cold wind howls through the collapsed east wall of this huge chamber, whose far side is completely submerged under frigid seawater. A dense bed of kelp grows up from the submerged floor, obscuring any sight of what lies below. Broken glass and the remains of shattered tables cover the floor in the dry section of the room.
In the room opposite the laboratory, the party found a sunken room populated by giant crabs. An intact chest which had not yet been reclaimed by the sea was spotted at the far side. Cairns Root threw a ration towards the crabs to determine how docile they were and concluded that they were relatively safe if left undisturbed.
Algernon 'Gerry' Dracovia made haste towards the chest and unlocked it. Inside were twenty gilded vials of a milky liquid - presumably the cure for Frigid Woe. He immediately chugged one and the pulsing blue veins on his face returned to normal as the Frigid Woe was purged from his body.
